Effects of business internships on job marketability: the employers’ perspective This study looks at the relationship between field internship employment (placement) participation, and student marketability upon graduation. Three terms are used in the USA to describe higher education (HE) programs involving learning through employment in industry: (1) cooperative extension; (2) cooperative education; (3) internship An expert committee of business intern supervisors representing the university’s five business majors agreed to a list of ten career preparation skills: (1) reliability; (2) consistency of performance; (3) eagerness to learn new skills; (4) timeliness; (5) effectively prioritizing tasks; (6) demonstrating initiative/self-motivation; (7) exhibiting ethical behavior; (8) accepting criticism constructively; (9) commitment to quality work; (10) exhibiting professional behavior and demeanor. At the beginning of a career, experiential education plays a important role in elevating prospects of employment candidates. Undergraduates with internship/placement experience are perceived to be better prepared and more marketable to employers. I am writing you, the representatives for Equal Rights to discuss an urgent concern of American women in the workplace. Although gender inequality is decreasing, it still exists and makes a lot of people suffer its consequences every day. Gender inequality is unfair rights between male and female based on different gender roles which leads to unequal treatment. Women as a whole experience the gender pay gap but there is also a racial pay gap. A woman makes 77 cents for every dollar a Caucasian man makes. Last year when looking at median hourly pay, black workers earned $18.49 an hour. White workers earned an average of $25.22 an hour. Caucasian women make about 75 cents to every dollar a caucasian man makes. Asian women make an average of 85 cents to every dollar a caucasian man makes. For black, Latina, and Native women, that number is significantly lower. On average, Latina and black women who are low-wage earners and work full time live below the poverty line. White men who are low-wage earners and work full time live above the poverty line. According to the map from National Women’s Law Center women lose $418,800 over a 40-year career. That number is more than double from latina and black women. It will take years for the gap to be resolved. In the U.S the gender wage gap is lower than it is in any country although there has not being improvements since the 1990s.
